No more shoes odour or smelly feet with Gran's Remedy!

People always say that give a girl the right pair of shoes and she can conquer the world. I got to agree with that!

I never thought of the importance of having the right pair of shoes until I wore my favourite Sketchers Go run 2 in Pink back in June . Honestly I never thought I could climb the 1200 steps to the top of Sigiriya Lion Rock (one of the must see Unesco site in Sri Lanka) BUT I DID!! This shoes is super light and flexible and it makes my climbing easier. I'm so happy that I made it up there because the view up there is super breathtaking!

So I wore the shoes while backpacking around Sri Lanka for a week. My shoes are exposed to the sun, rain and soaked in sweat. When I returned I felt my shoes are dirty and smelly but I didn't want to wash it because many people has told me that it will spoil the shoes (i.e the glue will come off). and I really do not want to risk that because I really like this shoes.

So I tried various method to salvage my shoes...from putting pandan leaves in the shoes to spray my favourite fragrance into it...hmm it doesn't really help to take away the shoes odour! At that point, I really upset and thought of tossing it away.

Well Shoes/Foot Odour is one of the most common problem which we don't really talk about in Malaysia, a lot of people are embarrass to even to admit that they have this problem. So what causes shoes odour? Well I google and found out there are 3 things that cause shoes odour

Bacteria – This is the number one cause of shoe odor. Once bacteria inhibit the shoes, it will automatically cling to the feet every time it is worn especially without socks on. The bacteria especially like to thrive on shoes if the shoes are moist.

Sweat – There are instances when people have naturally sweaty feet. This causes the bacteria to thrive and probably even multiply.

Other Foot Problems – There are times when the smell is caused by a wound that is infected. If in case you have a wound that needs to be given attention, give the attention that it needs immediately.

So I think my shoes odour problem are mainly are caused by dampness I got from the rain in Sri Lanka. I believe often when we came across this problem, we just throw away our shoes right? But it's such a waste...

So when I was offered Gran's Remedy for Smelly Feet & Footwear (Original) from http://www.gransremedy.com.my/ to try, I immediately took up the offer  to see if it really works since I really ran out of ideas/methods to remove my shoes odour. And in their website they said Keep your smelly shoes fresh as summer breeze! I like that!

Gran's Remedy is made in New Zealand. Using a traditional remedy handed down through the generations since 1982, the Gran's Remedy for Smelly Feet and  Gran's Remedy for Smelly Feet & Footwear Footwear is a unique blend of powders that treats the problem of smelly feet or foot odour, rather than masking it.

Ingredients: Potassium Aluminium Sulphate,, Zinc Oxide, Zinc Undecylenate, Talc, Manuka Oil, Kawakawa Oil.

How to use Gran's Remedy for Smelly Feet and Footwear ?

Instruction given : Sprinkle a spoonful (Spoon included in the pottle) of powder in each shoe daily for seven consecutive days or until the powder is used up. I personally felt 1 spoon is a lot for my small size shoes... hence I cut off a bit but still make sure the insole is all properly covered with powder

Gran's Remedy for Smelly Feet and Footwear will leave your feet, shoes and socks odour-free for up to six months.

I realised that the first time I sprinkle the powder into the shoes the night before the smelly scent is not completely gone by the next morning however the insole shoes which was a bit damp become drier. So I continue to sprinkle powder on the shoes for the next 3 to 4 days... and I think the smelly scent completely gone.

During that period, you can actually wear the shoes directly with or without socks (as long as you do not have any open injury) and it actually help to remove foot odour  (if you have one). Just be careful of the white dust, make sure you are not walking on black carpet with your bare foot after wearing the foot (or you shall be leaving your white footprints behind lol).

I also put a test to my favourite flat! This might not be the best looking flat but it's the most comfortable flat I ever own seriously, I can walk hours in this! But problem with this flat is the insole material is not of breathable material hence my feet easily sweat in it which caused it stink after wearing it for a while.

For this shoes, I have to sprinkle the Gran's Remedy for Smelly Feet and Footwear up to a week like that before the shoes odour is completely gone. I guess how long you need to sprinkle on the shoes really depends on the seriousness of the shoes odour and you can continue to sprinkle the powder up to two weeks consecutively. Plus a treated footwear should stay odour-free for up to six month.

Seriously Gran's Remedy for Smelly Feet and Footwear is totally my life saver to my smelly shoes, now I can wear it without worrying someone will notice my shoes odour!
