Dorothy Perkins Style Essential for Autumn/Winter 2013

I'm a big fan of Dorothy Perkins and everyone knows that right. Well when last few weeks I posted a collage of pictures of the Dorothy Perkins dresses I tried in my Instagram & Facebook & asked for some of your opinion which to buy. And the blue dress is the top pick and I bought it few days ago :)

So many people always asked me how do I usually pick my dress, first we got to know our body shape. I know I looked the best in flare dress. So this coming autumn/winter collection out in the store, what should I pick? I got to consider the weather that we have in Malaysia which is summer all year long with lots of rain at year end!

This time around Dorothy Perkins has collaborated with Ms. Natalie Hartley who is the Fashion Director in InStyle Magazine in UK to introduce the "Style Essentials" for this autumn/winter 2013.

Note : This free booklet is available in any Dorothy Perkins store in Malaysia

Ms Natalie introduced 10 key pieces that will instantly update our Autumn Winter look:-

1) The Biker
2) The Sculpted Tee
3) The 2 in 1 dress
4) The Fit & Flare Dress
5) The Skirt
6) The Fur
7) The Blouse
8) The Item Sweat
9) The Cute Fit Knit
10) The Skinny

According to Ms. Natalie's fashion tips, she said this type of dress is Dorothy Perkin's signature, where it is perfect for most body shape, where we can wear with pumps for day or heels at night! And yes I do love flare dress and it is a must have in all girl's wardrobe!

Thanks to the kind people in Dorothy Perkins who sent me this Black/white check 2 in 1 skater fit & flare dress before it was even available for sale in Malaysia so that I could be the first one in Malaysia to wear it :)

For my day look on weekends, I pair it with my wedges & a sling bag and was ready to catch up lunch with my friends & shopping!

I wore this to one of the important meeting I attended few weeks ago where I need to look professional. I matched it with black Coat, black pump & black tote bag to complete the look. Don't you think this dress looked like a cheat 2 pieces here?

The flare dress material is really comfortable to wear & the cutting flatter my body shape. I love how it can from a casual look to a professional look. And after the meeting , I took out the coat, change my shoes and well it look more casual like above :D

After that I went to the Dorothy Perkins store to check out the remaining of the A/W collections & I did followed Natalie's fashion tip!
On the left, the Sculpted Tee in Red is really comfy, versatile and easy to match either with pants or skirt. Unfortunately it was a bit too long for me or else I would totally get this...

Check playsuit with black shorts and collar detail inside leg is really cute right! I was thinking whether I should get this or not. Should I get this ?

This Ivory lace top 2 in 1 dress is love in first sight, one can never go wrong with white or black, especially if it's lace. I love it's simplicity and immediately bought this when I tried it!

  1. Dorothy Perkins Blush lace shift dress is a full lace dress with collar.
  2. Petite collared shift dress in animal print shift with a contrasting black collar.
  3. Red animal collar shift dress
Which looks nice ?

Dorothy Perkins Blush embellished 2 in 1 dress with black pencil skirt.

The left one has really nice details on the top while the left comes in full black gave an illusion of slimmer figure. Both below cutting is really body hugging especially the right one because its leather material and does not flatter my shape.. I would think it would look nice for people that has smaller bottom.

I also bought this Plum 1/2 sleeve mesh top dress, love this colour!

So now tell me what is your essential pick this season ?

The Myths and Facts of Contraception Pills - brought to you by Exeltis Pharma on World Contraception Day.

The result of unplanned pregnancies - do you wanted this to happened to you?

Do you know there are 30% of births in Asia are unintended?
  • 27 million abortions were performed (and this stands for 58% world's number of abortions)
  • 33 per 1,000 is the overall abortion rate in Asian women during the child-bearing age of 15-44.
  • 10.5 million is unsafe abortion in Asia - the highest number of unsafe abortions in the world (30% occurred in women less than 25 years old & 60% abortions were performed in women under 30.
I was glad to be invited by Exeltis Pharma in conjunction with World Contraception Day earlier last month to learn more about contraception pill. Yes there are many method to control/manage unplanned pregnancies however I believe the cheapest & safest way is through oral contraception pill (better known as OC pills)

Honestly I have a lot of doubts before attending the workshop as I was kinda of ignorance. But I was glad that I attended the informative session to learn more. And as a women I think these are the things that we must know (late is better than never!)

Dr. K.K Iswaran, Consiltant Obstetrician & Gynecologist ; subspecialist in Reproductive Medicine & Fertility was invited to shared his knowledge with us.

Do you know what is Oral Contraception pills?
Oral Contraception pills contains synthetic versions of the female hormones - estrogen & progesterone which women  produce naturally in their ovaries. They are primarily intended to prevent pregnancies but also offer a number of additional & immediate health benefits, particularly for woman who experience menstrual-related disordered and acne.

Yes you read it right HEALTH benefits! In overseas oral contraception pills are very common as doctor often used it to treat acne & prevent cancers - uterine, ovarian, endometrial and colorectal, premenstrual syndrome (PMS), premenstrual dysphoric (PMDD), disturbance of menstrual dymenorrhea (severe menstrual pain), menorrhagia (heavy menstrual bleeding) and etc.

Since it has so many benefits why many of you still did not take OC pills? It is because we heard so much myths and not sure if its the fact! So today Dr KK Iswarea would clear some of our doubts!

This is the no 1 myth, even I thought the same too!

Not only that, I learnt that OC pills can helps to treat acne by stimulating production of oil by glands in the skin, which results less oily skin and less chances acne would be severe.

In recent years, studies have shown that using OC pills for a year or more, the risk of having Ovarian cancer risks would be reduced by 40 % after four years of use!

Thought most women who take OC pills did not develop any side effect, only a small number of  develop nausea, headache etc. And clearly the benefits of taking OC pills out weight the possible risks.

Mr Andy Siow , Managing Director Malaysia & Singapore of Exeltis Pharma/ Chemo Group Spain said that their company committed to improve people's health and quality of life, providing access to quality medicines at affordable prices and to continuously expand their efforts on R&D to develop new & better therapies.

I was made to known that Exeltis Pharma being one of the largest producer of oral contraception generic pills.

FYI, generic pills contains the same active ingredients as the original formulation has to pass the bioequivalency test before it is available in the market. Generic drugs can be produced without patent infringement for drugs usually when the original pharmaceutical company has finished enjoying their period of “marketing exclusivity” to cover back their R&D costs. Hence companies like Exeltis who subsequently reproduced the same drug following the formulation saves on R&D costs could sell the drug (i.e pills) at a more affordable price!

End of the day, it is importance to note that the main objective of contraception pill is to have to avoid unwanted pregnancies (or abortions which is a SIN). And it is great to know that there are additional health benefits that comes with it. And these are the things we (women) must know so that we know. Hence, I hope this posts helps to clear out some doubts that all of us have here.

I always believe family planning is really important for married couples what more for unmarried couple, hence I believe oral contraception pills are still the most affordable & safest method to avoid unplanned pregnancies.

So to all my female friends out there, DO TAKE ACTION NOW!

What's happening in Asia's Premier Esthetic & Skincare Expo 2013 (AES'13), Beauty Expo 2013

Last week was really a happening week in KLCC convention centre, it started with the AES Expo 2013 (Asia Esthetic & Skincare Exposition 2013) from 4-7 October. With more and more people expressing the necessity of a holistic beauty experience, the AES Expo 2013 is pushing boundaries in the region’s beauty industry through the gathering of the best of the best in beauty, skincare and esthetics professionals. I didn't managed to attend the launch as I could not make it... but nevertheless went to Beauty expo :D

Last Monday it was Asia Pacific Hairdressers and Cosmetologist Association (APHCA) launch in Beauty Expo in KLCC Convention centre. I was there to witness the 17th APHCA will be organising the Hair & Makeup Olympics Competition in Malaysia in conjunction with the Beauty 13 Expo.

This competition is created for international & local talents to exhibit and share new knowledge.

There are a total of 13 participating counties namely, China, Indonesia, Taiwan, Thailand, Australia, Cambodia, Hong Kong, Japan, Korea, Mongolia, Philippines, Singapore, Sri Laka & Malaysia.

Trophy for the Hair & Makeup Olympics Competition

So after the launch, I went to walk around the beauty expo which is a yearly affair (after their first event 12 years ago!) and I do try to make my time to go and see what's new in the market. This year Beauty 13 Expo was held from  4 October till 7 October 2013.

To ease visitor’s sourcing needs for specific related products, the exhibition halls are divided into five (5) product-based exhibit zone covering every aspects of beauty from head to toe. The 5 zones are Beauty Salon Spa & Wellness, Hair Products & Equipments, Nail Products & Tools, Packaging, Contract, Manufcaturing & Private Labeling and Make-Up Education.

So much things to see... so much things to buy

I can see salon owners are busy picking new products for their salon

If you are lucky, these booth gave out samples to passerby! But I didnt went to get any... after seeing the crowd...

After that I went to Biothik Pro launch event at the very same hall, they are one of the exhibitors too... so I think why not check them out too...

BioTHIK is a brand that offersa wide range of hair clinicare products and hair growth treatment that can help assist you in allowing your hair to appear and feel at its best. BioTHIK is  an exclusive brand featuring a botanical based hair care range that provides an ideal solution to those with hair thinning problems.

I was very much curious on their two signature products, Hair Building Fiber and Fiber Locking Mist, work hand-in-hand to instantly add volume to thinning hair, reducing the self-consciousness that would affect daily lifestyle, all in a mere 30secs.

And I was glad to be given a set to try at home and I was so so so so impress with the result!! Okay that would be totally on another post! So stay  tune ya......! And yes I'm looking for see what is new in next year expo!

JQ was very gung-ho and excited to go in there...little did she know she would be PUNCHED, WATER-FIED, FLOUR-FIED, TIRE-FIED, JELLY-FIED & MORE......(in her words!) Hahaha... but she still looked really fun .....and looking so energetic after that... !

But Isaac did it & he got RM50 cash on the spot! OMG I don't know how he managed to do that!! He just dash in and out ... like a speed of a BULLET!

For others who did not complete the challenge within 5 seconds got a Sunway Lagoon day pass & Nestle Drumstick ice cream as prize lah!

And best of all we had unlimited supply of Nestle Drumstick Ice cream by showing them the Line's apps.

The Nestle Drumstick Extreme Chocolate for the people who complete the extreme challenge!

I lost count how many Nestle Drumstick I had indulge that day.... the weather was so hot & ice cream is something I really need to chill me down!

[Sponsored Video] Intelligent Sounds: Intel's tablet powered band

Intel a well-known brand for computer processor chips has recently collaborated with Australian musician and producer Flume aka Harley Streten (an award-winning beatmaker) created a campaign project named "Intelligent Sounds" where it's a short film that visually showcases the magic of Intel-based tablets by taking the viewer on a journey through a creative, energetic, unexpectedly magical world.

Intel go all the way out to show us the potential of Intel is inside tablets.

“Intelligent Sounds” is a brave technological experiment where we can see that "Felix the Robot Conductor’, his tablet-powered band members and their instruments come to life to perform Flume's music track which is created specifically for this campaign.

After 12 weeks of production, 2000 developer hours and more than 60 active Intel-powered tablets were used - finally the "Intelligent Sound" has been created!

Jayant Murty, Intel’s director of brand strategy and integrated marketing for the Asia Pacific region, said the short film is designed to be an entertaining light and sound experience and also to encourage viewers to consider the technology which is at the heart of their tablets. He said

“It is common place to have tablets play your music but it’s rare to have tablets create it. Intel technology transforms these devices from tools for consuming content into innovative instruments that allow for incredible self-expression,”

Seriously it's so interesting to watch that each ‘member’ of Intelligent Sound" tablet band was programmed with synthesised notes and triggered to play through on cue, while robot arms were pre-programmed to hit the required notes in time with the final song. And this reminds me of Wall-E and the music by Flume is really awesome! This is really a really marketing
